What To Expect At A Pretrial Status Conference

Video Transcript

A pretrial status conference is a routine hearing in a criminal case. The purpose of the hearing is to check on the status of the case. The Court is going to ask for an update from the State and the Defense to confirm if we have discovery and to ask if we’ve received an oƯer in the case. The Court also wants to know where is the status of the case. Are we working towards a resolution? Do we plan to file motions? Are we headed to trial?

These hearings typically take place every thirty to sixty days, depending on the court's preferences. Sometimes these hearings are in person, other times we can appear via Zoom. Our team at Nelson Defense Group will keep you informed about scheduling these hearings.
